Knock Knock (2015) Movie Review

Knock Knock is a hell of a thrill ride

Director: Eli Roth
Starring: Keanu Reeves, Lorenza Izzo, and Ana De Armas
Studios: Camp Grey, Dragonflay Entertainment, Sobras International Pictures
Release Dates: October 9, 2015 (U.S)
October 21, 2015 (Philippines)

Plot: A devoted and loving father is left all alone for the weekend by his family. Soon, two female strangers arrives and asks for his help, but eventualy ends up in seduction and a life or death game of cat and mouse.

A mash-up of a home invasion and erotic thriller, Eli Roth perfectly mixes up an amazing concoction of suspense and thrills. Here, we ge tto see a different Eli Roth. Not the usual Gore fest (like Hostel and it's sequel). Instead, he goes for the sexiness and thrills.

The story itself is pretty basic home invasion setup up. A man, all alone one rainy, cold night lets two strangers at his house. Then, the film switches into an erotic thriller, as the two girls soaking wet from the rain starts to play around and seduce him. Then, ultimately, it jumps into the suspense genre as they start a cat-and-mouse-chase. All happening within his house.

Honestly, the film doesn't really need brains to watch. I mean, c'mon. There's a whole bunch of films out there before this. But thebn it's not about the story. It's about the excitement. The adrenaline rush. The thrills. And I think Eli Roth manages to do just that.

I also like to praise the cast of the film as they were really into their characters.  Lorenza Izzo, and Ana De Armas were really sexy yet scary as the twisted girls who took hostage of the protagonist. And of course, all praises to Keanu Reeves as the main character, Evan. He's probably the most under-rated and least appreciated actor right now in the Hollywood scene. I just wished he gets more movies because he's far more interesting to watch and is really talented.
I really love the part where the two antagonist, Genesis and Bel (Lorenza Izzo, and Ana De Armas) tied Evan (Keanu Reeves) and plays a game with him. That for me was one of the best parts of the film. All the rest were also good. But that's the one that really stood up.

Another thing that I loved was the last few minutes of the film. Specifically the part where Evan's character was buied in the soil and Genesis was about to crush his head with a rock. I found that to be the most heart-stopping moment of the film.
I just wished there were a bit more blood and gore in the film cause I was somehow wishing for a little bit of it.

"All in all, I have nothing but praises for this film. Totally rewarding. Highly entertaining."

Rating: 1/2
