Samara Turns Digital This 2016 in 'Rings'
Paramount Pictures has unleashed the first official trailer for the upcoming sequel to the 2002 box-office hit based on the original japanese horror franchise. 'Rings' is the third intallment of The Ring franchise that began with the 2002 remake directed by Gore Verbinski and followed by Hideo Nakata's sequel, Ring Two. This new film follows 13 years after the events of the first two movies. It was originally planned to be be entitled The Ring 3D, but the plans have been scrapped. It began filming the movie on March 23, 2015, in Atlanta and was completed in June 2015.
Rings is directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez, and written by David Loucka, Jacob Aaron Estes and Akiva Goldsman. It revolves around the rebirth of the curse brought upon by a mysterious videotape which kills it's viewers exactly 7 days from the day they've watched it's contents. It stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe and Johnny Galecki with Bonnie Morgan playing the iconic role of Samara. It is scheduled to be released this October 28, 2016.
