Dr. Robert Langdon finds himself in a race to find a virus that is set to eradicate a big portion of humanity, while also trying to regain his memories after he was taken captive by unknown entities.
✰✰ out of 5 stars. Being a big fan of the first two movies, The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons, I had high hopes for this film. But it turns out to be a big disappointment for fans of the Robert Langdon series. Suffering from the all-too-familiar plot of searching-for-a-virus-to-save-the-world, this caper mystery thriller just doesn't have the tension and the thrills of the first two movies. Tom Hanks is still good in his game as Dr. Robert Langdon, and her leading lady, Felicity Jones who plays Dr. Sienna Brooks gives out quite a good performance, it's not enough to save the film from being a total bore for it's two hour and a minute entirety. Staying away from the first two film's religion based mysteries really affected the film's tension and excitement. It also features some weird nightmarish moments from Dr. Langdon's visions of hell which could have worked if the film's mystery was intense enough. But all of it only ended up being out of place and unnecessary. For those who do not follow the Robert Langdon series of movies, this might be a passable thriller. But for fans, it's just a big thumbs down.
Directed by Ron Howard, written by David Koepp, based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Dan Brown, starring Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones and Irrfan Khan.
