Based on the hit Japanese video games series, it follows a group of friends decides to do a ritual to make their friendship last forever, but instead, they get transported to a mysterious school where they are hunted and killed off one by one by vengeful spirits.
✰ out of 5 stars. There has been lots of movie adaptations of hit video games that I've seen and I can say that this one is the worst that I've watched. The film has actually has some nice potential with it's story. Unfortunately, it's execution didn't really do it any justice. The film doesn't even give time to introduce it's characters as if the viewers already know each one of their names right before the movie even begins. It doesn't take time to build up each character and it throws them right away into the killings. Because of this, we don't really care at all who gets killed or not.
The kills are also all uninspired. The deaths are gory and violent, yet executed in a hilarious fashion that they're not threatening nor scar at all. All the good special effects put to waste. The film also tries to go through some twists and turns but this only made the film more confusing, removing any excitement or thrill if there are any. A 93 minute waste of time.
Directed by Masafumi Yamada, Starring Rina Ikoma, Ryōsuke Ikeoka and Nozomi Maeda.
