Leatherface. Directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury and written by Seth M. Sherwood, this prequel is already the eighth film in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.
It stars Sam Strike, Stephen Dorff, Vanessa Grasse and Lili Taylor. The film follows violent teenager Jackson who escapes from a mental hospital with fellow inmates Bud (Sam Coleman), Ike (James Bloor) and Clarice (Jessica Madsen). The group kidnaps nurse Lizzy (Vanessa Grasse) in their escape. As the group flees with their captive, they are pursued by Hal Hartman (Stephen Dorff), a vengeful and determined Texas Ranger. I guess this isn't the usual slasher type horror that the TCM series have been known for based on the film's plot online. i just hope that it's not gonna be a big time mess for fans of the original series.
Rings. Previously titled as The Ring 3D, is the third feature film in the American franchise based on the Japanese horror film Ring, following The Ring and The Ring Two. Directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez and written by David Loucka, Jacob Aaron Estes and Akiva Goldsman, it stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe and Johnny Galecki and is scheduled to be released on this 2017.
The story of the film is somewhat based on the original short film of the same name, initially released as an extra disc with a re-release of The Ring on DVD. in the movie, Julia is a high school student whose college boyfriend, Holt, has grown distant. Fearing they’re drifting apart, she travels to see him and finds out that he’s part of a club of college students who pass Samara’s tape between each other. She discovers Holt watched the cursed tape six and a half days ago, meaning that by the end of the day, he would die. The curse is what brought them back together, but it’s also what threatens to kill them.
Amityville : The Awakening. Oh, Bella Thorne. When will I finally see you screaming again? After watching Bella Thorne in the opening scene of MTV's Scream season one, I somehow fell in love with her. So when I've heard of this movie starring her, I couldn't be more excited. Originally scheduled to be released in 2015, then moved to 2016 and now, it was moved again for a January 6, 2017 release by Dimension Films, this is one of those long-delayed movies I've been watching for the past two years.
Serving as the seventeenth installment in the Amityville saga, it will be directed by Franck Khalfoun from a screenplay he wrote. Produced by Daniel Farrands, Casey La Scala and Jason Blum and starring Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Thomas Mann, Jennifer Morrison and Kurtwood Smith. To make it short, their new house is haunted. Period.
A Cure For Wellness. This American-German psychological thriller is a welcome return to the horror genre for Gore Verbinski, whose remake of The Ring (2004) is probably one of the scariest thing that haunted me back when I was a child. The movie is about an idyllic but mysterious "wellness center" at a remote location in the Swiss Alps that seems to be hiding some weird shit behind all it's rejuvenation and healing programs.
The trailer itself is weird enough to make you curious about it, but in another reason to watch out for it is it's lead plyed by Dane DeHaan, one of this generation's most talented actors.
Mia Goth and Jason Isaacs star alongside him in this film that is scheduled to be released on February 17, 2017, by 20th Century Fox.
Saw Legacy. The eight installment of the hit Saw franchise has been announced just a few months back and everybody's either loving it or hating it. Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, and written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.
No other update has been released about the film but according to the film's soundtrack composer Charlie Clouser, Legacy is a "reinvention" of the Saw franchise, opining "the Spierig brothers can deliver a fresh take on the material that will establish a new story line and new characters that can carry the saga into the future."
Friday The 13th. After the 2009 reboot, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that they were planning s sequel to this iconic franchise. But on April 21, 2010, Fuller announced on his Twitter page that a sequel to the 2009 remake was no longer in the works, declaring it, "dead — not happening". Then, on February 1, 2011, it was reported that a script for a sequel had been completed and that Paramount is working with Platinum Dunes to make a new installment with David Bruckner set to direct. The project has gone through a lot of alterations, from initial plans of filing in found-footage style to shooting the film in 3D, which were all sonn rejected. After changing the release date for the nth time, Paramount has set the film for a Friday, May 13, 2016 release date. After a couple of months, Bruckner left the project and Breck Eisner was in talks to replace him. It was then revealed in September 2016 that the reboot will be pushed back by Paramount, and is to be released on Friday, October 13th, 2017.
It. The only entry of Stephen King on the list. this supernatural horror drama tells the story of seven children as they are terrorized by the eponymous being, which exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself while hunting its prey. Directed by Andrés Muschietti, who co-wrote the screenplay with Gary Dauberman, Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga, and David Kajganich, this new adaptation of the Stephen King classic features Bill Skarsgård stars as Pennywise The Dancing Clown, with Bill Denbrough, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, and Jack Grazer. It is scheduled to be released in North America on September 8, 2017.
Get Out. This one is probably what I'm excited the most of all the films on this list. It's written and directed by Jordan Peele and stars Daniel Kaluuya, Catherine Keener, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Lil Rel Howery, and Keith Stanfield. The follows a black guy and his white girlfriend as they meet his fiancee's parents for the very first time. And we all know what happens when your girl's parents don't like you. Add the fact that you're black.
The trailer is one of the trippiest and most unsettling trailers I've seen this year and it's got me so excited for this movie. The film is scheduled to be released on February 24, 2017, by Universal Pictures.
